Question #4
Both books have the same question:
And same multiple choice answers, in the same order.
The network address of 172.16.0.0/19 provides how many subnets and hosts?
Same explanation, but different answers:
ISBN: 9781118749616
F. 8 subnets, 8,190 hosts each
F. A CIDR address of /19 is 255.255.224.0. This is a Class B address, so that is only 3 subnet bits, but it provides 13 host bits, or 8 subnets, each with 8,190 hosts.
ISBN: 9781119288787
C. 7 subnets, 8,190 hosts each
C. A CIDR address of /19 is 255.255.224.0. This is a Class B address, so that is only 3 subnet bits, but it provides 13 host bits, or 8 subnets, each with 8,190 hosts.
The errata page:Wiley: CCENT ICND1 Study Guide: Exam 100-105, 3rd Edition - Todd Lammle
Does not mention this inconsistency.
If the answer is indeed F, please update the errata page to reflect this.
If the answer is C, the new edition fixes this, please update the explanation (the explanation says 8 subnets).
