A customer contacted me about an error in the Sybex, IT Fundamentals title. Please see the following:
Found an incorrect port number in the IT Fundamentals Study Guide today. Page 351
Post Office Protocol 3 Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) is an incoming email protocol,
which uses port 110 or 945 when configured to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security.
POP3 allows for the downloading of email from the server to a client.
That same port number in relationship to POP3 SSL is used throughout and in several quizzes. Unless I am missing something the standard in the industry for POP3 SSL is 995 not 945.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will submit a content error to our editorial team for review and correction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues with the text.
